Dr. LaValla

Dr. Amy LaValla has been passionate about helping people achieve and live up to their highest potential for years. She recognizes that true health is holistic and cannot be segmented into mental and physical realms and has incorporated this philosophy while serving individuals, from children to elders, for over 20 years. Additionally, Dr. LaValla bases her work on the theory that healing occurs holistically and she incorporates this into her practice.  Although medications and traditional therapy can be an integral part of managing mental health concerns, she understands that other modalities may also be beneficial. In effort to provide additional routes of care, Dr. LaValla has had training in a variety of integrative therapies, including aromatherapy, acupressure, and Reiki. Dr. LaValla more completely incorporated this holistic theme into her practice when earning her doctorate of psychiatric mental health nursing from the University of Minnesota where she also obtained a doctoral minor in integrative therapies.

Dr. LaValla is continuously looking for opportunities and seeking out new information to shape and guide policies and practice to help this underserved population. Her drive for providing complete care has led Dr. LaValla to continue to seek out creative solutions to chronic mental health concerns. These solutions and treatments frequently incorporate and utilize cutting edge therapies to provide the best and most appropriate care to serve her clients.

In addition to working as a clinician, Dr. LaValla is active in her community, serving as an educator, clinical supervisor, and as a member of several advisory boards. She is also an active contributing member of the greater mental health community where she provides consultations, is a published author, and has presented regionally, nationally, and internationally.
